Class Description

In this class, guest instructor Susan Nachtrab is going to teach you how to make a beautiful, eclectic panel out of your stained glass scraps, blobs, and sparkly bits! What is "Mosaic Leading"? Each piece of glass, bevel, jewel, etc is wrapped in thin lead came and pieced together in a mosaic style and soldered together. Small areas are left open or filled with twisted wire or curled lead pieces. Zinc, copper or brass is used to strengthen un-framed panels.

Each student will create one pieced panel measuring approximately 6" x  6". The best thing about this project is that you can use some of those small glass scraps, and hobby came scraps that you have been wondering what to do with. Got rid of your scraps?! That's okay, you can buy some of ours. :) ALL other materials, supplies, tools, and equipment will be provided for you. Susan will show you how to assemble your bits into a beautiful, artistic design!

Susan will have a selection of glass "jewels" available for cash purchase during class. These are great for adding a little razzle dazzle to your artwork!!

**A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF HAND STRENGTH IS REQUIRED WHEN CUTTING GLASS. IF YOU FEEL THIS COULD BE A CONCERN FOR YOU (ie. hand tremor or arthritis) PLEASE CONTACT US BEFORE REGISTERING FOR THE CLASS.

Each student must enroll separately for each class.  Please review our enrollment and cancellation policy, dress code and other class-related details HERE prior to attending your class. If you have any questions regarding these policies or other class-related topics, please feel free to contact us at (360) 771-5617.

We also have a handout regarding Safety in the Studio that we would like you to review prior to your class. These documents can all be accessed by clicking on the "Contact & Policies" tab at the top of this page, if you are unable to download them.

**Photos are examples of items that can be made in this class. The variety and colors of glass available may vary depending on what you choose for your class.
