Attendance Policy

Only registered students may attend classes. Classes are transferable to another person, so long as they meet the age requirements.

Student Age Limits: Fused glass classes and workshops at Melt are for those who are 14 years of age and older, except where noted in the class descriptions.  Stained glass classes are for those who are 16 years of age and older, except where noted or by special permission. All minors must be accompanied by a paying adult, except by special permission.

Dress Code and Safety: As there could be a significant time spent standing, please wear comfortable shoes that have a closed toe. For safety, please wear cotton clothing and avoid anything with full sleeves that could drag through chemicals or catch on your project (or someone else’s). Long pants are a requirement, as well. Our facility is temperature-controlled. Long hair must be pulled back. Please read our document on Safety in the Studio prior to class so that you know what to expect. Also, cutting glass requires some measure of hand strength, so can cause discomfort for anyone with arthritis, tremors or similar conditions.

Liability Waiver: At the beginning of each class, you will be asked to complete a liability waiver.  Only those students who complete and sign the waiver may attend. ONLY REGISTERED STUDENTS MAY ATTEND CLASS. You are not eligible for a refund if you refuse to sign the waiver.  A sample of the waiver is available HERE and in the description of each class on the website. This is required by our insurance provider and no exceptions can be made.

Cancellation Policy

If Melt Cancels: Our minimum class size for most classes is two persons, unless otherwise noted in the class description. In the unlikely event that we cancel a class for low attendance, those who have registered will receive an opportunity to transfer their registration fee to a different class or receive a refund. If there are no other classes available to transfer to (a one-time guest instructor class, for example), a refund will be issued.

If a class is cancelled due to an "act of god", weather-related or otherwise, those who have registered will receive an opportunity to transfer their registration fee to a different class or receive a store credit. If a class is cancelled we are not responsible for reimbursing travel costs or other reservation fees. Melt Glass will not refund/reimburse any rental, fuel, airfare, accommodation, or any other travel-related costs regardless of why the class is cancelled.

If You Need To Cancel a Class: unless otherwise stated in the class description, students who cancel a registration 14 or more days prior to the beginning of an in-house class will receive a refund of the class fee, minus a $25 cancellation fee per student, per class. Cancellations made fewer than 14 days prior to the beginning of a class will not be refunded. Class registrations are transferrable, so you are welcome to sell the seat or send someone else in your place.

In order to keep class costs low for all, we do not make exceptions to this policy for any reason, including illness, medical events, inclement weather or travel delays. *IF YOU SHOW UP TO A CLASS AND ARE VISIBLY ILL, or have notified us that you are ill, for the safety of the Melt staff and other students, YOU WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE and no accommodations will be made for refund or reschedule of any kind.*

NO SHOWS for one-day classes will not receive an accommodation of any kind, as we were unable to fill your seat and there are costs and time investments  associated with preparing for your lesson. In order to keep class costs low for all, we do not make exceptions to this policy for any reason, including medical events, inclement weather or travel delays.

NO SHOWS for multiple-session classes, when no more than 50% of the sessions have been missed, have the option of scheduling a private session with the instructor for $55/hr to go over information presented in the missed sessions. If a student misses more than half of the sessions, too much information has been missed and no accommodations will be made, and they have effectively forfeited their tuition. In order to keep class costs low for all, we do not make exceptions to this policy for any reason, including medical events, inclement weather or travel delays.

If You Cancel or No-Show for A Guest Instructor Class (the Instructor's name will be listed in the class title):  If you register for a class with an instructor who is teaching as a guest of Melt Glass, that registration is non-refundable. However, it is transferable. So, if you are able to find someone to take your place, you may send them to the class instead. Alternately, if we are able to find another student to take your place, we are happy to issue you a refund, minus the $25 administrative fee. In order to keep class costs low for all, we do not make exceptions to this policy for any reason, including medical events, inclement weather, or travel delays.

PRIVATE LESSONS AND PRIVATE PARTIES are pre-paid and non-refundable. Payment must be made within 48 hours of scheduling. We are happy to work with you to reschedule if you call at least 7 days prior to your scheduled lesson, but otherwise you will forfeit any tuition or deposits that you paid for that session. No exceptions.

An Unpaid No-Show: If you have not pre-paid for your class or session, there will be a $25 fee (per person) before you can attend another one of our classes. We try to collect payment at the time of registration, but this cannot always be done. This does not release the student from their verbal or written agreement that they will attend at the previously arranged time and place. Our instructor has made arrangements to be there, as well as materials and a work space has been prepared. Those considerations cost time and money. In order to keep class costs low for all, we do not make exceptions to this policy for any reason, including medical events, inclement weather or travel delays.

If You Need To Reschedule: Students who cannot attend a class, but would like to transfer their tuition to a different class, must notify a Melt employee 14 days or more before the start of the class. Without exception, there is a $25 rescheduling fee. We cannot reschedule students with less than 14 days notice.

Students requesting to reschedule must choose a new class, one that is on the current schedule and has available space, at the time of the request to reschedule. If a desired class is unavailable for whatever reason, the situation is treated as a cancellation as noted above. In order to keep class costs low for all, and keep scheduling simple for our staff, we make no exceptions to this policy.
