Class Description
Now that you are two or more projects into your stained glass journey, let's do something a little more complex! Once again, everything will be provided for you WITH THE EXCEPTION OF YOUR GLASS.
This course consists of THREE sessions of 3 hours each. In addition, beginning the day of your first class through the day of your final class, you will have use of the classroom and any tools needed to work on your project(s). Open studio sessions MUST be scheduled at least 48 hours in advance via phone or email.
Come into the shop BEFORE your first class session and we will help you select one of our NINE patterns and the perfect glass for your design and budget (typical glass cost is approx. $45-$60, but can vary depending on your choices). You may not bring in your own pattern for this class. The patterns we use are selected especially for the types of cuts and assembly process that you will need.
In this workshop, we will focus on creating a 12"x12"square/rectangle piece with repetitive, sometimes angular types of cuts. You will use a Morton strip cutter and a lapidary grinder to create a border, in addition to the tools used in the SG 101 & 102 courses. You will also learn how to accurately square up your project and frame with a heavier zinc came than what we used in the 102 class.
**A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF HAND STRENGTH IS REQUIRED WHEN CUTTING GLASS. IF YOU FEEL THIS COULD BE A CONCERN FOR YOU (ie. hand tremor or arthritis) PLEASE CONTACT US BEFORE REGISTERING FOR THE CLASS.
