CL – Kevin Kanyo: Mysteries of Crackle Revealed
Learn how to create unique “Crackle” designs with powdered glass frit. No experience required! Everything will be provided for you, with the EXCEPTION of the sheet glass needed for your final project. Accessory glass, tools, supplies and all kiln firings for your final project are included in the class fee.
Local artist, Kevin Kanyo, is coming to Melt specifically to teach this special technique. Kevin is known for his brightly colored fused glass, full of movement and energy. He currently teaches classes in Las Vegas, Nevada and Chinook, Washington and has a show coming up in Portland, Oregon at The Gathering of the Guilds, April 27th – 29th. You can see examples of his amazing artwork on his Facebook page, Kan Yo Fuse – Fused Glass Jewelry and Art.
This workshop is designed to offer specific instruction regarding the “crackle” technique. No prior fusing knowledge or experience is necessary. Although we will be firing the project in our Melt kilns, you will be provided with the firing schedules and all of the necessary information you will need to create future projects on your own, either in your own studio or during Melt’s Open Studio hours.
This class is open to adults and children ages 16 and up (a registered adult MUST accompany any minors). All attendees must be registered, as we have limited classroom space. Any questions or concerns, please contact us.
This class includes TWO SESSIONS, with the final session working on a project of your own design and choosing, using the crackle piece from the first session. The final project will be available for pick-up approximately one week after the final class session.
Each student must enroll separately for each class. Please review our enrollment and cancellation policy, dress code and other class-related details HERE prior to attending your class. If you have any questions regarding these policies or other class-related topics, please feel free to contact us at (360) 771-5617.
While your safety is our top concern, each student will be required to sign a standard liability waiver prior to the beginning of each class. These will be available at Melt or you can print one HERE and bring it with you to class. We also have a handout regarding Safety in the Studio that we would like you to review prior to your class. These documents can all be accessed by clicking on the “Contact & Policies” tab at the top of this page, if you are unable to download them.
