Class ATTENDANCE Policy:
Student Age Limits: Fused glass classes and workshops at Melt are for those who are 10 years of age and older, except where noted. Stained glass classes are for those who are 16 years of age and older, except where noted or by special permission. All minors must be accompanied by a paying adult, except by special permission.
Individual Registration: Each student must register individually for their classes, so that we have contact information in case case there is a cancellation or if we need to contact a student after the class is over (ie to pick up a finished project or to return an item lost during class, etc). We NEVER sell or distribute our customer’s information, nor do we send promotional emails to anyone who hasn’t voluntarily added their name to that specific list.
Dress Code and Safety: As there could be a significant time spent standing, please wear comfortable shoes that have a closed toe. For safety, please wear cotton clothing and avoid anything with full sleeves that could drag through chemicals or catch on your project (or someone else’s). Long pants are a requirement, as well. Our facility is temperature-controlled. Long hair must be pulled back. Please read our document on “Safety in the Studio” prior to class so that you know what to expect. Also, cutting glass requires some measure of hand strength, so can cause discomfort for anyone with arthritis or similar conditions.
Liability Waiver: At the beginning of each class, you will be asked to complete a liability waiver. Only those students who complete and sign the waiver may attend. You are not eligible for a refund if you refuse to sign the waiver. A sample of the waiver is available on the website under the “Contact & Policies” tab and a link to a printable version is available HERE and in the description of each class on the website. This is required by our insurance provider and no exceptions can be made.
CLASS Cancellation Policy:
If Melt Cancels: Our minimum class size for most classes is two persons, unless otherwise noted in the class description. In the unlikely event that we cancel a class for any reason, those who have registered will receive a full refund or an opportunity to transfer their registration fee to a different class. If a class is cancelled we are not responsible for reimbursing travel costs or other reservation fees.
If You Cancel or No-Show: Our class fees include a $25 nonrefundable registration fee, which is forfeited by those who cancel a registration. Students who cancel a registration 10 or more days prior to the beginning of a class will receive a refund of the class fee, minus the $25 registration fee. Cancellations made fewer than 10 days prior to the beginning of a class will not be refunded. In order to keep class costs low for all, we make no exceptions to this policy. NO SHOWS will not receive a refund or transfer of any kind, as we were unable to fill your seat and there are costs associated with preparing for your lesson. PRIVATE LESSONS are pre-paid and non-refundable. We are happy to work with you to reschedule if you call 48hrs before your scheduled lesson, but otherwise you will forfeit any tuition or deposits that you paid for that session. No exceptions.
An Unpaid No-Show: If you have not pre-paid for your class or session, there will be a $25 fee (per person) before you can attend another one of our classes. We try to collect payment at the time of registration, but this cannot always be done. This does not release the student from their verbal or written agreement that they will attend at the previously arranged time and place. Our instructor has made arrangements to be there, as well as materials and a work space has been prepared. Those considerations cost time and money.
If You Need To Reschedule: As mentioned above, our class fees include a $25 nonrefundable registration fee. This fee can be transferred ONCE. Students who cannot attend a class, but would like to transfer their entire fee to a different class, must notify a Melt employee 10 days or more before the start of the class. Rescheduling requests made fewer than 10 days prior to the beginning of a class, or students who cannot attend the rescheduled class, will forfeit their $25 registration fee. Students requesting to reschedule must choose a new class, that is on the current schedule and has available space, at the time of the request to reschedule. If a desired class is unavailable for whatever reason, the situation is treated as a cancellation as noted above. In order to keep class costs low for all, and keep scheduling simple for our staff, we make no exceptions to this policy.
