Introduction to Mosaic

Class Description

Learn how to make glass mosaics! No experience required! Everything will be provided for you, with the EXCEPTION of your glass. Class fee includes 3 hours of class instruction, plus mosaic nippers. You will have use of our tools and equipment during those times.

We have several patterns on hand for you to choose from, but please feel free to bring your own patterns or photos for inspiration! If you bring in your own pattern, it must be printed out ahead of time as there will not be time during class to print out everyone's patterns. Office Max or Staples are a great resource for printing if you don't have a printer of your own. Patterns should be approx 12"x12".

Come into the shop sometime before the day of your class and we will help you select just the right glass for both your pattern and your budget (typical glass cost is around $25, but can vary depending on your choices).

This workshop is designed to offer an introduction to making mosaics with glass. You will learn to cut and shape the glass to fit your pattern, you will learn about adhesives, grouts, and other materials used in basic mosaics. Your piece will be designed for indoor use, but we can provide information on outdoor projects if you are interested in tackling that at a later date on your own.

**A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF HAND STRENGTH IS REQUIRED WHEN CUTTING GLASS. IF YOU FEEL THIS COULD BE A CONCERN FOR YOU (ie. hand tremor or arthritis) PLEASE CONTACT US BEFORE REGISTERING FOR THE CLASS.
